Paterson Area Information for Visitors to The Poetry Center

HOTELS
If you coming from a distance and plan to stay overnight, poets in the past have stayed near Paterson at the Marriott Saddle Brook. If you're price shopping, a bit further but close enough, look at Fairfield’s (Ramada, Courtyard, Hampton, DoubleTree, Red Roof), in Paramus (Ramada, Wyndham) and in Saddle River (Residence Inn).

To get directions and find the free campus parking lot a half-block from the Poetry Center, visit our DIRECTIONS page.

Of course, some out-of-state poets have used their time here to visit people in the area. New York City is not far by car or train.

LOCAL ATTRACTION
Follow Alexander Hamilton, William Carlos Williams, and Allen Ginsberg, and visit the Paterson Great Falls, a National Historical Park at 72 McBride Ave Extension. It is a .6 mile, about a 15-minute walk or very short drive. Free parking on site. Walk on Ellison Street past native son Louis Costello Park and onto McBride Ave Ext, or drive via College Blvd/Van Houten St (where you parked), which curves left and becomes Mill St and then a quick right onto McBride Ave Ext.
